August Book: Being a Beast: Adventures Across the Species Divide, Charles Foster

This month, we tackle Charles Foster's nutty look into living like an animal. He tried very hard to live exactly like a badger, an otter, a fox, a red deer, and a swift.

The results were often times hilarious, often times bizarre, and always full of philosophical questions while heavy with factual biology. He describes the book not as a nature book, but rather a travel book, "It’s an attempt to visit parts of the landscape that we see all the time but that are usually invisible to us." (Foster, New York Times, 2016 May 26).

This will be an interesting book to discuss, and is sure to bring up a wide range of opinions!
