Here are 10 books we've read!
01
The Visible Man, Chuck Klosterman
What a book! Great discussion. Definitely a book that makes you think. A great story with a narrator who may or may not be reliable. One of our more successful book club picks.
02
The Weight of Blood, Laura McHugh
A good mystery with a great female read. Not the best literature we've read, but an engaging tale that everyone enjoyed.
03
The Sense of an Ending, Julian Barnes
A book that I didn't like until we discussed it. The discussion really added to the book and cleared up some questions.
04
Gang leader for a Day, Sudhir Venkatesh
One of our best books. An interesting anthropological look at life in Chicago
in a gang. Hard to read and unsettling at times, but something that made us all think, and lead to a great discussion.
05
Arcadia, Lauren Groff
Not a favorite book. One that seemed to miss the mark.
06
American Psycho, Bret Easton Ellis
This book lead to a very animated and impressive book club meeting, complete with a bathtub full of blood and a very dedicated and costumed host.
07
Catcher in the Rye, J. D. Salinger
This was a devisive book. Some people loved it, some people hated it. The differing opinions prompted a great talk.
08
Yes Please, Amy Poehler
A likable book, but not one that resulted in much discussion.
09
The Wind-Up Brid Chronicle, Haruki Murakami
A phenomenal book, but a bit long for all our group to read!
10
We are all Completely Beside Ourselves, Karen Joy Fowler
An engaging story, with a great discussion. Lots of questions, lots of opinions.
